About Bravo Zulu
Our Vision
Bravo Zulu Retreat is a Non-Profit organization that has a vision to provide without charge to the guest, a fully accessible property in the Florida Keys for the respite and enjoyment of Veterans who have experienced life-altering mobility injuries and have found independence with appropriate accommodations. The Bravo Zulu Retreat will be designed and constructed to provide for the specific mobility needs of our visiting national heroes with features like ramps, extra-wide door frames, accessible beds, showers and more—well beyond ADA compliance standards.
The Retreat Property
As many properties in the Keys are covered in crushed coral, rock, or sand, smooth walkways will need to be constructed throughout the property to allow for easy entry to all facilities and activities. We would like to provide a private beach area with a hard base for ease of accessibility.
A roll-in swimming pool with a lounge chair shelf would allow our Veteran heroes to meet and socialize in a tropical, relaxing, and accommodating environment.
ADA Cottages
Each individual room will be large enough and in a fashion which accommodates the maneuverability needs of our guests, with king size beds as well as a sitting area. We would like each room to also include a television, refrigerator, and microwave.
Bathrooms will include roll-under sinks, handrails, and accessible showers with seating. All closets will be built to allow pull-down access to garments and other hanging items.
